Public Speaking & Confidence-Building Workshop (Ages 11–18)

 

Overview:
Our engaging Public Speaking & Confidence-Building Workshop, designed for UK secondary school students (ages 11–18), uses dramatherapy and actor-led techniques to help young people develop confidence, communication skills, and resilience. Whether students struggle with social anxiety, nerves, or low self-esteem, or simply wish to enhance their public speaking abilities, our workshop offers a safe, supportive space for growth.

Program Breakdown:

​Target Group:

  • Ages: 11–18 years (KS3 to KS5)

  • Ideal for: Students with low confidence, social anxiety, nervousness, self-esteem issues, or those who wish to improve their public speaking skills.

  • Perfect for: PSHE days, enrichment weeks, group workshops, or student wellbeing programs.

 

Goals & Objectives:

  • Build Confidence: Help students overcome fear and self-doubt through drama-based exercises that encourage self-expression.

  • Enhance Public Speaking: Develop essential public speaking skills, including posture, tone, clarity, and persuasive communication.

  • Improve Social Interaction: Foster a sense of belonging and teamwork through group activities and collaborative exercises.

  • Manage Anxiety & Nerves: Teach students tools to manage performance anxiety, nervousness, and emotional stress.

  • Increase Self-Esteem: Encourage self-reflection and empowerment, helping students recognize their strengths and capabilities.

 

Workshop Structure:

  1. Introduction & Warm-Up (30 minutes)

    • Icebreaker activities to help students feel comfortable in the group.

    • Introduction to basic acting techniques and relaxation exercises to ease anxiety.

  2. Confidence-Building Activities (45 minutes)

    • Interactive drama games and role-playing activities that encourage self-expression.

    • Techniques to manage nerves and transform fear into confidence.

    • Small group exercises focusing on public speaking, storytelling, and active listening.

  3. Public Speaking Exercises (45 minutes)

    • Students will practice speaking in front of others, building their confidence and comfort.

    • Focus on voice modulation, body language, and effective communication techniques.

  4. Reflection & Feedback (30 minutes)

    • Group discussion to reflect on the experience, share insights, and receive constructive feedback.

    • Each student will set personal goals for improving their public speaking and confidence.

  • Increased Confidence: Students will leave the workshop with greater self-belief and a readiness to speak in front of others.

  • Improved Public Speaking Skills: They will have practical experience in speaking confidently and effectively in a variety of settings.
